First Deputy Minister of Health of Belarus Elena Bogdan said that the country has reached an undulating plateau in the incidence of COVID-19. This was reported on Friday, February 5, by “KP – Belarus”.
On average, about 1,700 cases of coronavirus infection are detected in Belarus per day. “We managed to reach the undulating plateau,” the official said.
According to her, patients have less frequent forms of the disease that require hospitalization. There are fewer people with a mild form of pneumonia. This allows medical institutions to gradually return to their usual work format.
In general, the situation repeats the annual seasonal incidence of acute respiratory infections, the Deputy Minister said. “But there are practically none of them today. For example, we do not detect the influenza virus, which is typical for February. It was replaced by COVID-19,” Bogdan concluded.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Belarus, more than 251 thousand people have been infected with the coronavirus, 1746 patients have died, over 239 thousand have recovered.
