Elon Musk prepared to take Cybertruck to streets

Tesla founder Elon Musk announced that the design of the Cybertruck electric pickup truck has been completed. He intends to take the electric car to the streets in 2021. Musk spoke about this during an online meeting with Tesla shareholders, writes Business Insider.

“If luck is on our side, we will be able to deliver the first pickups by the end of this year. But I expect that mass production will only be possible in 2022,” he said. The businessman noted that it is very easy to create prototypes of products, but it is difficult to scale production.

Tesla plans to build the Cybertruck at its Austin, Texas plant. The enterprise is still under construction, but is preparing to start work in 2021. Investment in the project is expected to amount to about $ 1 billion. In addition to Cybertruck, the plant is going to produce pickup trailers, as well as Model 3 and Model Y electric cars.

So far, Tesla has only one plant in the United States – in the state of California. In addition, in early 2020, the American manufacturer opened a factory in Shanghai. The company is also currently building its first European facility to be located in Germany.

Musk introduced Cybertruck in the fall of 2019. The body of the car is made of bulletproof steel, and the windows are made of heavy-duty glass and polymer composite.
