The Kremlin responded to the proposal to return the indexation of pensions to working pensioners. According to the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, the government is considering this issue, but an official position on this topic has not yet been formulated. TASS reports.
A Just Russia deputies previously submitted to the State Duma a bill on the indexation of pensions at least once a year by an amount no less than inflation. In addition, they proposed to start indexing pensions for working pensioners again.
Pensions for working pensioners were no longer indexed in 2016 in order to reduce the deficit of the Pension Fund. In October 2020, the issue of resuming indexations returned to the agenda, but the Ministry of Finance abandoned the idea. In mid-December 2020, President Vladimir Putin called the availability of budgetary support a condition for the return of indexation.
