Tens of thousands of Americans quit the US Republican Party after supporters of former Republican President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol in Washington on January 6. This is reported by The Hill with reference to open data.
It is reported that only in those states whose authorities report that voters are denied registration – Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Florida and several others – there are 30 thousand fewer registered Republican supporters.
It is noted that this may be the “tip of the iceberg” – there is simply no data for other states – and testify to a disappointing forecast for the Republican Party. The current situation is already deplorable: they lost the presidential race and did not retain the majority in the Senate, the upper house of the American parliament.
Trump supporters protesters against the election results broke into the Capitol building on January 6 and surrounded the Senate Hall. The Senate and the House of Representatives interrupted a meeting at which it was planned to approve the results of the last elections. Dozens of people were detained, five people died.
