The Indian government has permanently blocked the popular social network TikTok and 58 other Chinese applications due to threats to national sovereignty. The Indian edition of the Economic Times reports.
The Ministry of Information Technology of India has notified Chinese developers that the agency is not satisfied with their answers and clarifications regarding the security of their services. In this regard, the blocking of a number of applications, introduced by the Indian authorities in the middle of last year, has become permanent.
The Government of India has decided to temporarily block 59 Chinese apps in June 2020. The authorities explained their decision by the fact that the work of these applications allegedly damages “the sovereignty and integrity of India”, and also poses a threat to the country’s security and public order.
The list of prohibited programs includes TikTok, WeChat social network, Weibo microblogging service, Clash of Kings game and a number of other applications.
