Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden during a telephone conversation expressed satisfaction with the exchange of notes on the extension of the Treaty on the Reduction of Strategic Offensive Arms (START-3). RIA Novosti reports.
The Kremlin also announced that Moscow and Washington will complete all the necessary procedures for the further functioning of the missile treaty in the coming days.
On January 22, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the US authorities are in favor of extending the missile treaty with Moscow for five years.
The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty was signed in 2010 by the presidents of Russia and the United States – Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama. It expires in February 2021.
