Specialists of the Russian Space Systems Holding (RKS, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) have developed an integrated decoder for command, program and telemetry information as part of their work to create unified onboard equipment for advanced spacecraft. The universal device will ensure high quality and stability of the delivery of control commands from the ground segment to the onboard complex of the spacecraft and the transmission of information about the state of the satellite to the Earth.
The development combines the functions of various on-board nodes for processing command, software and telemetry information in one microcircuit. The device is a part of and increases the reliability of the command and measurement system that controls the spacecraft, retransmits the current navigation parameters and aggregates telemetry information.
This development is the next step of the DCS in the work on the creation of an integrated on-board complex of command information systems, combining command-measuring and computing functions, processing telemetric information, providing secure control and backup of critical functions of the on-board control complex.
Integration solutions and unification of equipment in the near future will make it possible to put production of reliable onboard systems “on stream”, reduce the cost and significantly accelerate the production of satellites, scale onboard equipment for a specific type of spacecraft – from small communication satellites and scientific purposes to complex multifunctional vehicles … Prospective RCS developments in this direction will ensure maximum durability and stability of operation of satellite constellations for various purposes, which will entail an increase in the quality of services in the field of navigation, digital television, telephony and the Internet.
