In the Baltic countries over the past day, the number of coronavirus infections has sharply increased, Interfax reports.
So, in the period from 26 to 27 January, the total daily number of infections in the Baltics increased from 1736 to 3017, of which 636 cases were in Estonia, 1278 – in Lithuania, and 1103 – in Latvia. A day earlier, 357, 686 and 693 cases were recorded in these countries, respectively. The reason for the sharp jump in the incidence has not yet been named.
In total, almost 285 thousand people have been infected in the Baltic countries since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. 4,252 patients became victims of the infection, almost 90 thousand residents were vaccinated against COVID-19.
Earlier it became known that in the Lithuanian city of Marijampol, the patient was mistakenly injected with a five-fold dose of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine. The woman’s condition did not worsen, but four people lost their dose of the drug. An investigation into the incident was initiated.
