Women serving in the US Army were allowed to have their hair and make up. These innovations are reported by the New York Post.
The army leadership announced the easing of restrictions related to female appearance. The policy overhaul was triggered by numerous complaints: protests against extremism and racial inequality were widespread throughout the country in the summer of 2020.
According to the new rules, female soldiers are allowed to dye their hair, braid regular and Afro braids, walk with their hair down when cut short, and collect their hair in a ponytail. In addition, they can now wear earrings, paint their lips and get a manicure.
It is noted that shaving remains a must for men.
Sergeant Major Brian Sanders said that the commission adopting the new rules took into account many factors, including cultural aspects, health and safety issues. He noted that the tight bundles previously required in the military can cause hair loss and other problems in women. In addition, the owners of thick hair with such a hairstyle are uncomfortable wearing a helmet.
According to Sanders, relaxing restrictions will help employees “feel like women in uniform and without them.” “Our women are mothers, spouses and sisters, and they want to preserve their individuality,” he stressed.
In October 2019, Russia began to think about improving the appearance of women from the Federal Security Service (FSO). As stated in the draft decree, gold embroidery will cover five percent of the fabric on the sleeves and collar of formal jackets. It was also proposed to complement the female uniform with a hat with a cornflower blue band.
