US President Joe Biden can take any retaliatory measures against Russia because of the arrest of Alexei Navalny. This was stated by the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki, reports “Interfax”.
According to her, the American leader, as always, has the right to react to what happened to the oppositionist at “the time and way chosen by him.” “And I will not rule out any options in this case,” – said a White House spokesman.
Psaki recalled that Biden instructed the intelligence community and other structures to investigate a number of recent events attributed to Russia, such as a hacker attack on American departments and the poisoning of an opposition leader. “We want this report to be prepared,” concluded Psaki.
The detention of Navalny at the Sheremetyevo airport became known on Sunday, January 17. This happened on the basis of the decision of the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Moscow, according to which the oppositionist was put on the wanted list for systematic violations of the conditions of the probationary period. On January 18, he was arrested for 30 days.
Before his arrest, he was in Berlin, where he was delivered on August 22, 2020. Two days earlier, during the flight from Tomsk to Moscow, Navalny felt unwell, the plane was urgently landed in Omsk. Foreign experts announced the poisoning of the oppositionist with a substance from the Novichok group. During the examination, Russian doctors did not find traces of poisons in the patient’s body.
