A British Special Forces (SAS) sniper killed five terrorists from the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia) with one shot from a distance of more than 900 meters. Reported by the Daily Star.
British snipers worked together with the Kurdish militias against terrorists involved in the attack on local villages. The shooter, a sergeant with 20 years of experience, managed to take the position from which he spotted the wanted group of militants.
One of them was wearing a suicide belt. Usually, in this case, snipers aim at the head, but due to the huge distance to the enemy, the British took aim at the body. As a result of the shot, the explosives detonated, and five jihadists died at once, including a high-ranking commander of the group.
Upon returning to the base, the sniper was presented with a commemorative baseball cap with the inscription “Long Range Death” – “death from a long distance.” It is noted that he used the Barrett rifle – the most powerful small arms in service with the SAS, which is used, among other things, against light equipment and aircraft.
In 2018, the British media shared a similar story: the military eliminated the IS commander by firing at him from a long distance with a large-caliber machine gun, on which a special sight was installed.
