President of Moldova Maia Sandu obliged the members of the Supreme Security Council (HSC) of the country to know the Romanian language. Reported by Noi.md.
The head of state has amended the rules of the WSC, establishing precise criteria for the persons who can be appointed to the council. They must have Moldovan citizenship, know the Romanian language, have no criminal record and “enjoy an impeccable reputation”.
The SCB consists of the chairman of the parliament, the prime minister, the ministers of defense and internal affairs, the attorney general and others.
Earlier, the Constitutional Court of Moldova canceled the law on the functioning of languages, which returned the official status of the language of interethnic communication to Russian.
Maia Sandu won the second round of the presidential election on November 15 with 57.75 percent of the vote. She called for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria and declared the priority of the course towards Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
