France has proposed to introduce anti-Russian sanctions in connection with the case of Alexei Navalny. This was stated by the head of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Jean-Yves Le Drian. His words are reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the recording of the broadcast of the France Inter radio station.
“As for the sanctions, they need to be made really effective. And discussions on this topic will take place tomorrow at the European Council,” he said, implying a meeting of EU foreign ministers, where participants will also discuss the arrest of a Russian.
On the afternoon of January 23 in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia, uncoordinated actions were held in support of Alexei Navalny, who was arrested on January 18 for repeated violations of the terms of the trial period in the Yves Rocher case.
