Residents of the Italian region of Lombardy lived for a whole week in quarantine conditions, introduced due to a mistake by the authorities. Le Nouvel Observateur reported.
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s regions were divided into three types, depending on the epidemiological situation. So, experts have identified red, orange and green zones. Italians who find themselves in the “red” zone are required to stay at home and can only visit the hospital or work, while residents of the “orange” zones are free to move around their city without permission.
The Ministry of Health announced that Lombardy, which was in the “red” zone a week ago, will be transferred to the “orange” zone after a check of statistical data on coronavirus. The department noted that they drew attention to the number of patients with coronavirus recorded in the region, provided by the regional authorities retroactively on January 20. When checked, this indicator was confirmed.
The incident sparked a scandal between the government and the region – the parties are trying to find out who is to blame for the situation.
It is noted that they are preparing to cancel the quarantine in Sardinia.
Earlier it was reported that France is preparing to introduce the third quarantine. According to the local newspaper, the decision to introduce a lockdown will be made as soon as possible.
