Head of Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka, who took witchcraft syrup from coronavirus, fell ill

Sri Lankan Minister of Health Pavitra Vannyaracchi, who took herbal syrup to prevent COVID-19, contracted the coronavirus. Reported by the Associated Press.

A spokesman for the country’s health ministry on Saturday, January 23, confirmed that Vannyaracci, who had previously faced criticism for consuming and supporting herbal syrup from the coronavirus made by a sorcerer, had tested positive. Now she will have to go to quarantine.

In December, thousands of people gathered in long lines in the city of Kegalle, northeast of Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo, to get their hands on the syrup. It happened just days after Vannyracci and several other government officials publicly used it.

In turn, the doctors stated that there is no scientific basis to believe that the syrup is a cure for the coronavirus. Presumably it contains honey and nutmeg.
