Google will return to Honor smartphones

Honor may get out of the US sanctions and Google services will return to their smartphones. Kommersant writes about this with reference to sources.

New Honor smartphones, which will be presented in spring 2021, will lose the Huawei AppGallery app store. Instead, they will receive all Google services that were removed due to US sanctions introduced in 2019.

In November 2020, Huawei sold the Honor sub-brand to another Chinese consortium, Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co. It is estimated that the deal was worth $ 15 billion and was carried out so that Honor could operate without the restrictions that Huawei fell under. Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology includes about 30 Chinese dealers and investment firms. Honor also includes a smart city development venture set up by the Shenzhen government.

In May 2019, US President Donald Trump blacklisted Huawei, which led to the termination of cooperation with the Chinese company of American Google, Microsoft and others. From now on, a special version of Android without Google services is preinstalled on Huawei smartphones.
