The US authorities have dealt another blow to the Chinese company Huawei, which is already under sanctions. According to Reuters, the US government has notified several of Huawei’s suppliers that it is withdrawing previously issued supply authorizations to the Chinese company. In particular, this also affected Intel, the largest manufacturer of PC processors and chips that are installed in many models of Huawei laptops.
According to the agency, all permits previously issued by the US Department of Commerce to do business with Huawei have been revoked, and new companies have been denied. Such actions, Reuters emphasizes, were the latest step by the administration of President Donald Trump to weaken Huawei, which Washington considers a threat to national security.
The US previously imposed a ban on Huawei’s technology and supply of processors for equipment, accusing the company of cooperating with the Chinese military and gathering information. The company is currently looking for a way to cope with the problems and reorient itself to the domestic market.
Japan also joined the pressure. In January 2021, it became known that Tokyo was negotiating with Washington and London on cooperation and ousting the Chinese company Huawei from the 5G equipment market. Huawei now accounts for over 33 percent of the global mobile station equipment market
