Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov threatened Norway because of military activity near the borders of Russia. This is stated on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
During negotiations with Norwegian counterpart Ine Eriksen Søreide, diplomats discussed the development of bilateral relations, “the state of which leaves much to be desired,” as well as work on trade and economic cooperation.
Among other things, Lavrov pointed to unsubstantiated charges of cyber attacks on Russia and spy scandals. He also resented the deterioration of border security. “Norway’s escalation of military activity, the advancement of NATO infrastructure to our borders are fraught with negative consequences for the Arctic,” the Foreign Ministry said in a note.
On December 3, Oslo accused Moscow of spying on the oil sector. The intelligence agencies of Russia and China are said to be collecting information about the oil industry in Norway. We are talking about interest in both state-owned companies (including scientific) and private ones.
