Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to work out measures to adjust prices for building materials. Proposals must be submitted by March 1, RIA Novosti reports.
The rise in the value of this product attracted the attention of the authorities in December. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced the start of an investigation into the issue of metal products, including fittings.
Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, during a joint meeting of the State Council and the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and National Projects, argued that in just a month the price of rebar has risen by 40 percent. Following the meeting, a number of instructions were developed, one of which related to building materials.
Earlier, Putin drew attention to the sharp rise in prices for a number of food products, including sunflower oil, sugar and pasta. The government, responding to the discontent, entered into an agreement with manufacturers and sellers on the introduction of maximum prices for products. The agreement led to a shortage of goods in small and medium-sized retail chains.
In response to reports of supply disruptions, the Ministry of Industry and Trade indicated that they had not received complaints with similar content from regional players and were not aware of the problem.
