Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng Motors has announced a new feature for autonomous driving of electric vehicles. With this, he decided to challenge competitors such as Tesla, writes CNBC.
A feature called Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) will allow the P7 flagship sedan to automatically change lanes, accelerate or decelerate, and overtake cars and take motorways. Drivers will be alerted when they need to take control of the vehicle, for example, during inclement weather or a traffic accident.
Xpeng is a Chinese electric vehicle startup. The Xpeng P7 sedan, a direct competitor to Tesla Model 3, began deliveries last June. The company sold 27 thousand vehicles in 2020.
Earlier it became known that a new major player will appear on the Chinese electric vehicle market. Local internet giant Baidu has agreed with carmaker Geely to create an autonomous unit. Baidu has its own map app and voice assistant technology, DuerOS. They can be integrated into the vehicle.
