Scientists have warned of danger of hospital mutant fungi

Scientists warned of the dangers of hospital mutant fungi Izvestia writes about this.

This fungus in most cases leads to the death of patients in intensive care. Patients at greatest risk of infection are those with breathing and feeding tubes and various catheters inserted into their bodies.

The situation is complicated by the fact that the fungus has acquired resistance to the available drugs. In addition, it is impossible to identify this type of fungi outside large medical centers – this requires mass spectrometry or others available only in well-equipped laboratories.

Scientists warn, if the process is not monitored, in the future the mutant fungus can claim tens of thousands of lives annually.

On December 24, doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov named the main mistakes in self-treatment of coronavirus. According to him, the main mistake in treatment is taking antibiotics. The specialist noted that it is also important to take only those drugs that the doctor prescribes after the examination. The doctor explained that COVID-19 causes several diseases at once – coronavirus acute respiratory infections and coronavirus pneumonia. They are treated with different drugs, so the wrong drugs can make the disease worse.

Another mistake many Russians make is the use of antiviral and immunomodulating drugs, explained Myasnikov. He noted that most of them are “pill pills”.
