The popular iPhone SE will not receive iOS 15. This is reported by the French edition of iPhoneSoft with reference to its own source at Apple.
According to an iOS 15 developer, Apple has decided to end support for the iPhone SE, 6s and 6s Plus. Also, a special modification of the new version of the operating system – iPadOS 15 – will not receive the iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2 and iPad 5. The source concluded that the company is going to bury the iPhone SE five years after its release.
Apparently, iOS 15 will be available on iPhone 7, 7 Plus and newer devices. Also, the operating system will receive devices of the iPad Pro line, all Apple tablets starting with iPad Air 3, iPad 5 and iPad mini 5. In addition, the new OS version will appear on the seventh generation iPod touch and newer players.
The first beta of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 is slated for June 2021. Most likely, an early OS modification will appear after WWDC. The release of stable versions of operating systems for Apple smartphones and tablets will take place in the fall.
Released in March 2016, iPhone SE was at one time considered the most popular smartphone in Russia and the world. The device received a 4-inch screen, Apple A9 chip, from 16 gigabytes of internal memory, a single camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels. Apple introduced an updated SE version in spring 2020.
