Russia will respond to the expulsion of its diplomat from Albania. This statement was made by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, quoted by RIA Novosti.
He said that Moscow regrets the decision to expel a Russian diplomat from Tirana. Grushko believes that this is a provocation aimed at deteriorating Russian-Albanian relations.
“One of the main principles in diplomacy is reciprocity, nobody canceled it. This unfriendly step will not remain unanswered,” the diplomat emphasized.
On January 21, Albania declared Russian diplomat Alexei Krivosheev persona non grata due to violation of anti-coronavirus measures, he must leave the country within 72 hours. The Russian allegedly continued to violate the measures taken in the country despite the promises.
Earlier in January, it was reported that Russia would expel two employees of the Dutch Embassy in Moscow in connection with the expulsion of two Russian diplomats from the country. In December last year, the Dutch authorities, based on data from the Netherlands General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD), recognized two employees of the Russian embassy as employees of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service undercover. They were expelled from the country.
