Germany: court recognized quarantine as a “catastrophically erroneous decision”

In Germany, the court acquitted a man for violating quarantine measures, recognizing them as “a catastrophically erroneous decision.” According to the court’s conclusion, quarantine is contrary to the country’s Constitution, reports Focus Online.

It is noted that the decision of the Weimar court (federal state of Thuringia) is contrary to the opinion of the majority of scientists and politicians of Germany, and also calls into question government measures to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The court’s decision notes that the ban on restricting contacts undermines the foundations of society and is illegal. In addition, it violates “ensuring the inviolability of human dignity” and restricts human freedoms, according to the court.

The man reportedly violated quarantine measures in the spring of 2020. Then, according to the court, there was no threat of a collapse of the healthcare system, and accordingly there was no reason to introduce a lockdown. As a result, the court acquitted the man and delivered a verdict according to which the state should pay all the costs.

As the publication emphasizes, the corresponding conclusion of the Weimar court will contribute to the discussion on the legality of quarantine measures in Germany.

Earlier it was reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel decided to extend the lockdown in Germany until February 14. In addition, residents of the republic were obliged to wear only respirators and medical masks, not cloth masks, in transport, public places and shops.
