The US Army, amid limited financial resources caused by the coronavirus infection, this year will conduct its own “bloodletting” for the sake of the Air Force (Air Force) and the Navy (Navy) of the country, writes Breaking Defense, referring to the statement of the Chief of Staff Army General James McConville.
According to the American publication, to counter the Chinese threat in the Asia-Pacific region, the United States army will use only available reserves, in particular, resources from the Army Prepositioned Stocks (APS), a fleet of army jet skis, which was previously planned to be disbanded, and one of the experimental missile groups capable of operating in multi-domain conditions of warfare.
The general said that a multi-domain task force, an operational headquarters and an “Arctic brigade” could be deployed in the Arctic to counter Russia.
In September 2020, Bradley Bowman and Scott Adamson from the Center for Military and Political Power of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (USA) wrote in a publication on the pages of Defense News that the Bastion coastal missile system (DBK) located in the Russian Far East allows Moscow to control access to the Arctic through the Bering Strait and hit targets in Alaska.
