Avoiding evening meals can lead to weight gain in the long term. This conclusion was made by Japanese scientists, reports The New York Post.
So, for three years, experts have observed 17,573 men and 8,860 women. It turned out that those study participants who skipped dinner gained excess weight faster.
According to scientists, 10.8 percent of overweight men and 17.1 percent of women did not eat dinner. Other common causes of weight gain include age, lack of sleep, excess alcohol and smoking.
Researchers have hypothesized that avoiding evening meals leads to an unregulated appetite that results from intense hunger. That is, a person becomes unable to control the amount of food. This theory has not yet been 100 percent proven, but scientists note that this conclusion can be used to prevent obesity.
