The Foreign Ministers of the EU countries will discuss the possibility of introducing new sanctions against Russia on Monday, January 25,
said the representative of the EU Foreign Service Peter Stano during a briefing. The video was published on the official website of the European Commission.
Stano recalled that the decision to impose sanctions is always made only in case of unanimous support from all member countries of the association. According to him, the discussion of this issue is expected at a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, which will be held on January 25. “Thus, after the meeting on Monday, we will find out if the participating countries want to choose the path of sanctions or consider some other measures,” Stano added.
Earlier it became known that the head of the European Council Charles Michel discussed the situation around the arrest of Alexei Navalny with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to a statement from the EU Council, Michel expressed serious concern to the European Union about the latest events and called for full and unconditional respect for Navalny’s rights, writes TASS.

On January 18, he was arrested for 30 days.
Before his arrest, he was in Berlin, where he was delivered on August 22, 2020. Two days earlier, during the flight from Tomsk to Moscow, Navalny felt unwell, the plane was urgently landed in Omsk.
