Almost half of Russians (47 percent) have begun to save money due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a study by the SuperJob job search service.
Only eight percent decided to increase their spending. Moreover, men made such a decision more often than women (ten and six percent, respectively). Young people more often than the older generation decide to spend their savings in a crisis (12 percent among Russians under 24 versus 5 percent among citizens over 45).
Earlier it became known that the volume of consumer loans issued in Russia exceeded 516 billion rubles in December 2020, which was a record figure in the entire history of observations. The average loan amount has also renewed its maximum, reaching 355 thousand rubles.
According to Rosstat, over the first nine months of last year, the real disposable income of the population decreased by 4.3 percent. One in five admitted to a significant drop in income during the pandemic, one in ten reported a complete loss of earnings.
