Rosneft has increased level of rational use of associated petroleum gas

Rosneft is increasing the level of rational use of associated petroleum gas (APG) at new oil production projects. The East Siberian Oil and Gas Company (a subsidiary of Rosneft) has commissioned priority APG utilization facilities at the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye field. This was reported to Lente.ru by the press service of Rosneft.

As part of the investment project, a gas compressor station (GCS) with a capacity of 0.8 billion cubic meters of gas per year at the first stage, a fuel gas treatment unit with a capacity of 312 million cubic meters per year, a high-pressure gas pipeline and a cluster of gas injection wells were launched. The total capacity of the facilities of the first stage will be 2 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

This initiative will increase the level of rational use of APG through power generation and injection into the reservoir to maintain reservoir pressure.

After the completion of construction and commissioning of all facilities of the gas program (the first and second stages of the GCS with a total capacity of over 5 billion cubic meters of gas per year), it is planned to achieve 95 percent of the APG utilization level. The implementation of this investment project will make a significant contribution to improving the environmental friendliness of production.

As part of the gas program, a large-scale infrastructure is being built at the field that meets international quality and safety standards. Gas facilities are equipped with modern equipment with a high degree of automation, control and monitoring of production processes. A membrane treatment technology, unique for the Russian oil and gas industry, has been introduced at the fuel gas treatment plant, which consists in separating various impurities from the target components – methane, ethane and propane when passing through a polymer membrane under the influence of a pressure drop. This technological solution allows you to reduce costs due to the simultaneous cleaning of gas from impurities, removal of moisture and heavy hydrocarbons.
