Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called the measures taken by the government to curb the rise in prices for sugar and sunflower oil effective, TASS reports.
He pointed out that relevant departments monitor the cost of basic food products on an ongoing basis in order to quickly respond to changes in market conditions.
Earlier it became known that the next goods, which may be affected by the introduction of price caps, will be eggs and pasta. Oksana Lut, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, announced this possibility at a meeting of the operational headquarters for monitoring the situation in the agro-industrial complex.
She asked regional authorities and industry unions to speak with manufacturers so that they voluntarily curb price increases and not force them to react to them.
