Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called the departure of Donald Trump from the post of US President “a victory for Venezuela”. He spoke these words during his speech at the National Cultural Prize, a recording of the speech can be found in his Twitter .
“Today, January 20, Donald Trump left. He left, left, left! We defeated him. This is a victory for Venezuela. He left all alone (…) This is our triumph,” the Venezuelan leader says in the video. / p>
He stressed that he expects to improve relations with the United States during the Joe Biden administration, but recalled that with Trump’s departure, the American “empire” remains in place. He recalled that Biden-elected international affairs adviser Anthony Blinken supports the opposition Venezuelan politician Juan Guaido.
As reported by PBS a day earlier, on the last day in office, Trump managed to impose new sanctions against the Maduro regime.
Maduro previously reported that the United States sponsored the attempted coup and his assassination, in which they were assisted by the authorities of neighboring Colombia.
