Russia thought about abolition of transport tax for cars on gas

The Ministry of Economic Development is studying the possibility of abolishing or reducing the transport tax throughout the country for owners of environmentally friendly transport. A representative of the department told the Izvestia newspaper about this.

According to him, this measure can be extended to machines running on natural gas. This practice already exists in a number of regions, but now it is proposed to bring the benefits to the federal level. The ministry noted that the transition to “clean” transport will reduce emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

The Ministry of Economic Development also proposes to provide subsidies to buyers of cars with an engine capacity of up to one liter and is working on opportunities to stimulate manufacturers of environmentally friendly cars.

It is estimated that in this case it will be possible to reduce the consumption of gasoline and diesel fuel by 2030 by 11 million tons per year. Currently, road transport in Russia consumes about 70 million tons of fuel per year.

The Ministry of Finance, in turn, recalled that the transport tax replenishes regional and local budgets, and thanks to it, road funds are formed. Cancellation of these receipts will require compensation from the federal budget.

Earlier, the Russians were revealed a way to save a lot on fuel: spending will be reduced several times when switching from gasoline to gas motor fuel. In particular, per kilometer, the cost of fuel for a gasoline Lada Vesta is 3 rubles, when using gas engine fuel they will drop to a ruble. For a diesel “KamAZ” diesel costs are 18.6 rubles per kilometer, and in the case of re-equipment of the truck, they will drop to 7.9 rubles.

From July 20, 2020, the state began to subsidize 60 percent of the cost of converting a car from gasoline to gas from the budget. Gazprom will compensate another 30 percent as part of its marketing programs.
